While Singapore is experiencing its first recession with companies thinking of cutting cost, the spirit of giving is indeed still evident in CareerLink Consultancy and its staff. On 9 Dec 2008, we became one of the sponsors for “Christmas Wonderland”, an event organized by CityCare for disadvantaged children coming from sixteen beneficiary groups. During the event at Republic Polytechnic, all CareerLink Consultancy staff also volunteered themselves to help out as facilitators despite their busy schedule. Setting a Singapore record for the Largest Gift Box ever displayed, the box was specially constructed to hold 500 sponsored Christmas gifts to disadvantaged children in Singapore. Besides the Carnival games that the children could enjoy, there were also many other programmes catered specially for these children, such as Christmas carols, a Magic show, a drama skit, etc. The highlight of the event was when Guest-of-Honour, Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman (Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of National Development, and Member of Parliament for Sembawang GRC) toured around the carnival and mingled with the children at every game station. Through “Christmas Wonderland”, CareerLink Consultancy and its staff had indeed made a difference in the lives of these children as we embarked on this meaningful and memorable journey, being part of our Corporate Social Responsibility initiative.
